| I have been a collector of Scottish postal history for about 30 years.
During that time I've been a founder member of the Scottish Postal History
Society. I have formed a collection of Additional Halfpenny marks and a
general collection of Scottish postal history but my main interest is the
postal history of my local area, the town of Hamilton and the county of
Lanarkshire excluding the city of Glasgow.
The Lanarkshire collection contains some important items from the very
early period such as the earliest manuscript "Ham/2" and the earliest and
only known "Lan/2" of Lanark. I'm always looking for nice items. At present
I'm putting all my county research and dates of use on to discs.
I've also been a member of the International Chilean Phlatelic Society
and formed a collection of stamps and postal history over the 25 years.
The Chile collection has been displayed extensively throughout Scotland
as has my Lanarkshire postal history collection.
I'm now collecting Jamaican postmarks after having visited the island
a couple of years ago. I have recently restarted looking at the early machine
cancellation of Scotland and would welcome any information on the Columbia
types especially the slogans featuring "WAR BONDS" |
